Ironwood is one of the snowiest places in Michigan, and has an average seasonal snowfall of 188.2 inches (4.78 m). The deepest snow cover, 71 inches (1.80 m), was measured on February 23, 1904.

Houghton, MI

Houghton has annual snowfall averages of approximately 202 inches. Many rank this town as the snowiest place in all of Michigan. Houghton is located along the Keweenaw Waterway, just across from Hanco*ck. There are plenty of winter activities for visitors.

The record-high seasonal total—a whopping 355.90 inches—came in the winter of 1978–79. The least amount of snowfall, in the winter of 1930–31, is 81.30 inches. Michigan Tech's Keweenaw Research Center no longer measures daily snowfall.
